Is this 'Leon the African' the same book that was mentioned (by you?) on another thread as dealing with Manicheaism? And is it any good? I suspect I have a 2nd-hand copy lurking somewhere.

You've got me scratching my head now.
Leon the African is excellent and well worth a read. But it's not (as far as I remember) about Manicheaism. It's about a sort of Marco Polo figure, an Arab statesman travelling around the various capitals of that time, and I think based on the life of Ibn Khaldun.
I have also read a book by Malouf about Manicheaism that I enjoyed, but I can't for the life of me remember the title. He's written 5 or 6 novels that I've read - the last two were not as interesting - as well as "the Crusades from the Arab viewpoint", which I bought in a 2nd hand bookshop last week but haven't yet opened.
Hope that helps

Thanks!
I discovered the original posting, and it wasn't you. (But you knew that already).
I think my copy of Leon might be in my Father-in-Law's attic (don't ask!).
Didn't he win a Nobel prize? Or am I thinking of someone else?

He has won some French language prizes (he writes in French) but I'm not sure about the Nobel - is he obscure enough?
