In a time when such as this when people are getting further apart than ever, I commend your true spirit of liberalism. I too cherish the values and mores that are understood as liberalism and the many threats to it by smug neo-cons who love noting better than to spread their vitriol where they may. I have watched America slide down on the slippery slope of fear and contempt of the rule of law since 9-11. It is truly the test of civilization as Mr. Bush so aptly avered in his recent 5th anniversery speech. Well indeed Mr. President, and when the hood in put over another suspect's head and the vague language of article 3 of the Geneva convention cannot protect them from rendition, to whom and what civilization do you plead for mercy?
