Hi, Cunning! I see you've gotten up and running quickly. Thought I'd answer your question about .midi files.

Here's the problem. If the Eds. let us put up anything we wanted, someone might, unintentionally even, put up something copyrighted. Interestingly enough, it's not objectionable material they're worried about at all, since that's fairly easy to moderate. Copyright material isn't always so obvious, though. The poster might not even realize it. And aside from the moal issues, legally the BBC would get hit with it, especially if it happened a lot. That means the BBc would not be very pleased with h2g2, which would be bad. Really bad.

Anyway, the short answer is that we can't use any inline media except for h2g2's own blobs, which you know about. We would be able to upload to the site, whic they would be ok with, except the BBC's servers don't want it (I don't really blame them), so some things need to be rewritten and changed around before h2g2 can hold it's own graphics, music, video, etc. *Then* you can put a MIDI file on your space. But only if you wrote it, which means that the Benny Hill music won't pass unless it's no longer copyrighted, and I'm afraid I'm not very up on my copyright laws.

Well, it won't work until it can be uploaded to the site, and that won't even be touched until the GuideML 1.0 spec comes out, so even if you can get him to let you use it, it'll be a while. Sorry.
