h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

hi there, and welcome to h2g2! I'm one of the Assistant Community Editors, here to welcome you and to help you get settled into what must be the livliest online community on the net. If I have missed you, please accept my apologies for not being 'ACE-d' sooner.

Now, to help you get started, I'm not gonna bog you down with loads of links, so why not click on my name above? It will take you to my own Personal Space, where you will find some useful links to get you started.

If I want to write a guide do I just write it and submit and then if it needs editing it automatically goes to the review place for discussion???? I am planning it now.

To contribute to the Guide, simply click on the Contribute tab above, which takes you to the Contributing to the Guide page. There it explains fully the do's and don'ts of entry writing. So when you're ready to go for it, simply click on the Add Entry link, and when you are happy with it you can Submit for Review. There, it goes into the Peer Review group, where people will do some 'constructive critisism'. When it is ready, a Sub-Editor will edit the article, make it pretty and such, and that's all there is to it!

To make the entry look good, I suggest you swot up on GuideML, the Guide's own markup language, which is very similar to HTML.

Does it have to be true or can it be creative...as in pretending to be something you are not?

It has to be true...no writing about small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri I'm afraid!

OK..No spacey stuff. But I mean if I was to incorporate ideas and information about say robots or something...and lay it out as if it was written by a robotics company...but at the same time making clear that it wasn't true. ??

Well, if it is clear that it was a spoof, I can't see a problem there.
