Hola! I am a fellow newbie having joined this past week 
. I also grew up on Long Island - interesting that we're both on BBC! 
I've met a few others from there too. What school are you going to be attending? I used to play the violin but quite honestly I was AWFUL! But I adored being "in the music" (I played in the orchestra) and made a deal with my most benevolent conductor. 
He allowed me to stay if I sat in the last row of the seconds, made sure my bowing, pizz. etc. was perfect, and under NO circumstances was I ever to actually play one note. 
Simply pretend 
- and that's exactly what I did! 
Such fun!!! And I'm sure you'll have fun here too as folks are very friendly and nice. Buena Fortuna!

Umm, I don't know where I'm going to college yet, I'm still just a junior. I'm just looking around right now, that's all.
