i was quite a daddies girl as a child..then we moved,he got a new job n began drinking more.from when i was 12/13 in the eves he would pick a row with me'for fun' or just stast!i got to hear how he hated me,how useless i was,how ugly i am,that no one would ever love me etc for years..till i left home at 20!i was bullied at school too n spent years seeing different counsellors for my depression n suicide attemts.ive grown up feeling substandard,ugly,unlovable,flawed,worthless.ive struggled with it as long as i can remember.all my insecurities n self esteem issues that have held me back,got me into destructive relationships n patterns,made it hard for anyone to really get through to me with love are strongly tied with feeling rejected by my dad.i needed him to love me..today he told me he doesand we hugged for the first time since i was a child

My dad didn't drink, but what your dad told you sounds quite familiar, although it was worse for my sister cause she was the eldest. It's incredible how hard it is to shake those feelings off, although ratio tells you your dad wasn't right

actually reason always told me he was rightthere seemed a lot of back up for it all in my experiences..particularly with men..anyway!but i think these things can be self fulfilling
