What sort of stew? Mine is home made beef stew with dumplings about a pound of onions red and white mixture, half pound carrots, four sticks celery, some mushrooms, pound stewing diced beefsteak some parsley and a couple of leeks, and a plate full of diced spuds three pints of water, couple of oxo beef stock cubes, some onion gravy/stock stuff I can't remember the name of, pinch powdered mustard, fresh black pepper, dumplings with beef suet, S.R., flour, fresh pepper, pinch salt, and some fresh parsley right, thats it! food is ready!

Sounds pretty simular *burp* I ate half* of it lodger can have the other half when he get sback from whereever he is well, unless I get hungry again between now and when he gets back No NO NO! I won't eat any more dumplings came out well again this time; they seem to be one of thos e things that either comes out right or doesn't ocme out right, with no obviously apparent reason as to why the difference well, I don't measure the flour or suet, maybe thats the problem I feel stuffed now feel just like going for a lay down not a good* idea I think actually really rather fancy going out for a couple of beers, if there was naywhere near here I could get to and wanted to go to

My nan used to use Birds raising powder instead of fat and suet.. and made them with marge... the used to be lovely and light and fluffy!.. Don't seem to be able to find the raising powder anymore.

Don't use any fat or anything in mine, just the self raising flour and suet, and water, and salt, and pepper, and useually some herbs if I've some kicking about I don't mind them when they are more stogy and less 'light' actually like them equally much either way they are just yummy things
