My image of traditional Irish pub conversation is people shouting to hear themselves - no hope of hearing anyone else. But then I live in Dublin.

Indeed that is true,
It could be worse though.
But for the sake of H2G2 the idea of the pub is to get the researchers from Ireland talking to each other more so we can arrange a meet.
