Hi Twitcher. I see you've updated your space. Eventually it'd be a good idea to put stuff about yourself on it. things like what you enjoy, hobbies etc. where you are from maybe. that way you'll get more people dropping in to say hi.

Anyway, if you want any help or just a chat, say hello.

I can't say that I use h2g2 for chatting (I spend most of my time in Peer Review, which you can access by clicking on the green button just underneath the grey BBC toolbar at the top of the screen), however you might find this link useful:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A616718 - Interesting places to go in the guide.

All the best - if you need help, just click on my name.

See you around!

Sir John Luke, Jedi Knight, Keeper of the Black Stuff (no, not marmite), dark disciple #5

Hi there. Just a minor point to add to the others made. If it hasn't already been said in any of your other conversations, I suggest you try to avoid CAPITALS. It tends to be regarded as 'shouting'. I think, like the rest of us, you'll enjoy it here once you get settled.

Silverfish

If by home page, you mean personal space, then there are two main ways to . If someone has been part of a conversation, then above their message it should say something like Subject:on-line then posted:one hour ago by silverfish, where silverfish will be replaced with the name of the researcher in question. Click on their name to reach their personal space. For example clicking on me name to reach my personal space.

Another way is if you know the name of the reseacher, to click on the advanced search button, near where it says search h2g2. Then, you enter their name in the search for a friend box at the bottom, and click search for a friend.

Also, you ended your message with the smiley ':@)'. On h2g2 there whilst you can use this sort of smiley, we have a large number of 'proper' smileys, that have special graphics for them. If you go to the Smiley page (click on this link http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/Smiley), you can see all the smileys we have, along with their codes, you need to type to get them. An example of the sort of thing you get is smiley - smiley. I you click on that smiley, you will get a link to the code to get it, and this works for all the other smileys too.

Anyway, I hope that helps smiley - smiley

Feisor - -0- Generix I made it back - sortof ...

Well Twitcher - you seem to be getting lots of help - here's a bit more smiley - biggrin

As you travel round, you will find more and more interesting things.
Do not worry about getting lost, you can always return "home" by clicking on the "My Space" button on each page.
Every conversation you take part in will be listed on your page, these are your "threads". Every time someone posts after you, the thread will be refreshed on your page.
You can then return and reply if you wish.
If you hit the "posted" link it will take you to the last time that you posted in the thread (good for checking what's happened since then) If you hit the "last reply" it will take you to the last post in the thread.
When you no longer wish to participate in a particular conversation, you can click the "unsubscribe" link just below it, and the thread will be removed from your page. Then click on "my space" to return home.

I suggest that you take the Welcome tour as suggested by Floh - just click on the link <./> Welcome-Newcomers </.> It will tell you all about h2g2 and lead to to all sorts of places - then take the Tour (again as suggested by Floh) at <./>A317459</.> to see how it all works

If some of the H2G2 terms leave you a little confused, there is a great page about it at <./>A632431</.> (thanks to Dastardly for this great page)

As someone else said the best way to get to know us is to just wander around and check things out - and have fun!!

smiley - cheers
