Hi there,
Im not sure how familiar you are with Mac's, but Apple has made a AOL compatible Instant Message app called iChat, which features a set of not so good smileys.
To avoid using them I made a small package which replaces the smileys with a bunch taken from the Nomicons used in Proteus. Now, since I can't go thru a day without changing something in my computer, I have reached the conclusion that I need new smileys.
So, I ask permission to make a small package with the smileys from the h2g2 site. It will be available to anyone who wants them, free of charge and with no strings, ropes, dogs or other unwanted stuff attached.
Could something be arranged?

Hello there Kent,
I apologise for the delay in replying to you - I have been a bit poorly! (Actually that's a pretty accurate representation!)
Anyway - thanks for your enquiry. I'm glad you like our smileys so much. However, I would have to investigate a bit before I could find out whether we can grant you permission to use them elsewhere, but on the face of it (no pun intended) I think it's probably quite unlikely . These things are invariably very complicated and depend on many factors so for the time being I'm afraid I can't really say much more than please don't get your hopes up!
However, I will get back to you as soon as I get an answer.
Natalie

Hello again Kent,
I've done a bit of digging around and I'm afraid the answer is that we can't licence the smileys for use elsewhere.
Still, thank you for your enquiry,
Natalie
