Effectively your're quite right, which is why I've unsubscribed from all the conversations to do with the issue.
I don't want to spend the rest of my time on the site (and who knows, I may get run over by a bus, the site may get shut down. Either may happen tomorrow)engaged in ultimately pointless discussions about a small fraction of a per cent of the site.
Over the weekend it occurred to me that coming to h2g2 was becoming an almost entirely negative experience for me, because of this issue and a number of others.
I'm taking the time to reconsider how I use the site, and to finish my present project. After that, well, who knows.
Chances are I'll be staying just to stay in contact with the number of very good friends I've made here. But I've given up trying to affect the way the site runs.
