How do I get my picture to be a picture and not a string of gobbledygook???

Down at the bottom of you're screen, left of the update button, change style to GuideML. If it doesn't work then, it will tell you where it's wrong, in red.
You will have to write in GuideML, which is not as hard as it seems! try the GuideML Clinic, that'll help you out.
