Well; I've worked out that the pain that was in my lungs has somehow turned into being a problem in my right ear. Think I have an ear infection. Used to get them all the time as a kid...and as usual I am reluctant as hell to go to the doctors. Mainly because it involves getting up early. It'll pass I guess.

Why do you have to get up early to go to the doctors? Can't you just arrange an afternoon appointment?

Ear infections are serious! All it takes to fix it is an antibiotic regime of four days or so. Get it fixed or you could end up with inner ear damage!

It's not the main surgery I go to - 'tis a small local one which is only open from 8-12. Nearly all the appointments are taken by old ladies and their knees and if I go, my doctor is inevitably going to ask me why I didn't go to the counselling appointment she made me a year or so back.
cl - Ok. It's only an earache. Stop fussing.

WHAT? I can't hear you!! I had an ear infection when I was 18 and lived in Bristol and now I can't hear very well!!!!!
Just you wait, Dr. Zoomer knows!
You're just a mass of infection and medical problems, aren't you?

Very funny.
Oh don't say that. You make me sound like my Mum. I only ever get ill around Jan/Feb/March. When have I ever been infectious?
Mind you, after quite a few metal/rock gigs, I'm suprised I have any hearing left...!

Nonsense. I tried to burn my ears out for years at concerts and I'm still OK. Yes, even at my advanced years!
Seriously, if you develop vertigo get it looked at immediately. I got an infection once that got worse and I got it fixed just in time.
*sound like my Mum*
Phah! You really know how to hurt a guy, don't you!

Darling, as far as I know, you haven't been to various heavy metal gigs in your lifetime...
I said you make ME sound like my Mum. If you started sounding like my mother, you wouldn't see me for dust!!

Sorry, must be the hearing.
Well...heavy metal...hmmm, you may be right with the possible exceptions of KISS, Alice Cooper, and INXS. But the pit at any rock concert is as loud as that, and I've been there and on stage working for a lot.

*stares blankly*
We really need to talk about your definition of heavy metal. KISS were pathetic, INXS were not rock, and Alice Cooper has never been loud. And none are heavy metal.
And different bands use different levels. Motorhead push it as far as a band can go and they are LOUUUDDD apparently - not all do that. Luckily, I have no interest in going to see them.

I did say *possible* exception!
Loud enough I think. Cooper's front row centre was supposed to be the equivalent to ten feet behind a jet engine at max in *the old days*.
Whatever, repetition may have made up for quantity.

10ft behind a jet engine is rated at 90 decibels; my sound system does 110 from 20 feet in the coridoor outside my room.

And I can't hear my Walkman unless I have it up full blast.
Maybe this is my problem. Turn the music down.

Damn those right ears eh?
My right ear has a habit, of late, of turning itself off at random intervals, responding only to yawning or sneezing

You know, ever since reading the title of your journal entry, I've been randomly humming that song all day. I can't get it out of my head (shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes ..)!
