Hi Titania !
It´s nice to meet another reader who likes Wodehouse.
I´ve just read “Hot Water.“ It´s immensely funny.
Over a couple of years I´ve read more than two dozen books by Wodehouse. I still remember the sad feeling I got, realizing that now I had read all story with Jeeves and Bertie Wooster in them.
Do You know the stories about golf (The heart of a Goof; The Clicking of Cuthbert)?
Though I don´t play golf myself, I enjoyed reading them tremendously.
It´s a pity that Wodehouse is not very well known in Germany. I intended to buy some books as Christmas presents for friends who would find it difficult reading the stories in English and was amazed, that only one titel is in print (translated into German).
I bought one copy and and read a part in German. Unfortunately it appears to be extremly difficult, to translate Wodehouse well into German.
The translation of the plot is simply not enough to catch the elegance and the puns in the original English text.
Probably a lot of very good literature looses much in translations into foreign languages.
Well, that´s just life I suppose.
Can You recommend a favourite book ?

One of my favourite Wodehouse books is actually sort of memoires, describing - among other things - how he was imprisoned during WW2 - with his typical style and humour!
I've only got a copy in Swedish (Swedish translators have done a great job translating his books, and English humour is rather popular in Sweden) and it's parts from two or more books... it's original title is 'Wodehouse on Wodehouse'
...here are some of the books that are included, in parts:
Bring on the girls
Performing Flea
Over Seventy
...and I think Wodehouse was one of Douglas Adams' inspirations, along with Lewis Caroll...
