Dear AR80,

You were lost, but now you're found. This is good.

I am in Queensland, roughly half way between A727247 and U236943.

Yourself?

Trout

Dear much travelled Trout,

How kind of you to reply.

Well, ny son and I moved to Folkestone in February this year 2008. We have a magnificent flat overlooking the Channel. I am very happy here, and also much healthier.

My daughter and her husband used to live in Brisbane. They now live in Perth. are you anywhere near the Gold Coast ?

You do travel around. Hoorah. !! Go well

No AR80, we are northside of the city.

Perth to me feels very isolated. From the rest of Australia that is.

If I lived in Perth, I'd be tempted always to fly west.

Folkestone must be nice. I like the south coast in the winter. But not so much the summer.

You have to be well clear of the fires then Doc.

Yes thankfully. We're about midway between the fires in the south and floods in the north. The flooding is bad enough but the fires are truly grim.

DEar Montague ~Trout.

The stories of those dreadful fires are truly horrific. I am certain that on one of my visits to |Melbourne that my daughter took the three girls and myself into the mountains where it seems that so many of fires are. Is it really conceivable that someone would start them? With the temperature that you have been experiencing, and the fadt that the indigenous trees in Australia are all various forms of gum trees 0 which have a high oil content, I think that it is possible that when there are a lot of houses and trees close together that a stray spark can ignite.

That was one thing which I really did not like in Australia and that was the great variety of gum trees - eucalyptus. I would chop them all down.!!! and try and find some idigenous trees like they have in Tasmania.

Well, we are all feeling for you and your fellow Australians out there. It must be quite devastating, literally and psychologically.

sincerely,

Cahristiane.
