Hello Lady Admiral Ayeka
for dropping by. And how neighbourly are we?
Oh, you mean on the 'who's online?' - or in real life - or the day we entered this site...or....????
Hiya neighbour
F F Churchton Posted Apr 13, 2006
Hiya again,
Yeah I was going by who's online but infact Emmily is our common neighbour between us so I'll have to say hello to her as as well.
The thing with Pierce is he deserves to be teased and made a mockary. One of these days I'm going to manage to insult and then I'll be laughing, then I'll probabily apologise
So what about yourself, do you have anything in the pipeline or grapevine???
Hiya neighbour
tartaronne Posted Apr 13, 2006
Do I have anything in the pipeline .
What kind of subject do you have in mind?
Going by who's online, would that not be random depending on at what time a researcher signs on? Or are we ordered after our h2g2 age?
Have a nice Easter. I'm going to play with cars with my grandson non-stop for a couple of days.

You've got a grandson...aww...
The Id is set by the age in which your are joined. Since there is 3,700,000 U numbers, that means we're part of the old crew!

tartaronne Posted Apr 14, 2006
Ok. That does mean we are fixed neighbours.
My oldest daugther was a 'bit slow'. I expected to become a grandmother at 40 like my mother did.
Nah. Not really. Besides I had small(ish) kids then myself.

F F Churchton Posted Apr 14, 2006
So do you hope to make it to have the title of 'great-grandmother'?
Hiya neighbour
F F Churchton Posted Apr 14, 2006
Good on ya, keep on climbing that hill hoping you'll never reach the summit or whatever the saying is!!!
Your story with your grandson reminds me of the boy next store who had a phase where he built an imaginary by-pass around his mothers flower patch. I thought it was very cute, although I found it quite disturbing at first when he told his mother that he was going to play on the bypass

The grandson is 3½ years old, and he asks questions and wants everybody to tell him stories about...and what if the sun goes down in a lake, does it drown? ...and what will the cars say if a monster tramples on them...and what happens if...
It is good to get the imagination and fantasy stretched again.
Actually, like your neighbour's son, children that age are very logical and concrete and take the value and meaning of words litteral - at the same time they still have this al approach to stories.

Oh yeah once I got into a conversation with him, he asked me "what happens if the world gets blown up? Will they build a new one?"
Aww...they're so cute I want one. Their much more philosophical and entertaining than boyfriends!

tartaronne Posted Apr 14, 2006
I agree, totally.
But when they turn 12-17.... Actually I have hopes for my 16 year old. Every other day.

tartaronne Posted Apr 18, 2006
No, he wants to be a musician and a music teacher .
The hopes concerns his social behaviour with people from all walks of life and of all ages, his ability to help his parents with the housework and to put an effort into his studies. He's making progress in all three fields. Sometimes.
I think me being a freelance journalist has put all my kids off the media. Too much work, and too many deadlines.

I think they'd rather be in the paper than write for it!!!
Hiya neighbour
tartaronne Posted Apr 24, 2006
Well, yes. Be in the paper for good achievement in their fields. Son 16 as a musician, daugther 19 as a karate champion and poetrywriter. Daugther 33 is used as a specialist on Irish politics (especially Northern) in one of the the national radioprogrammes (DR P1) = the BBC. (She is reading a phD at Queens University in Belfast). Last night she partook in the radio's hour long debate and analysis of the situation leading up to a meeting in Killkenny(?) - and because of the British government's suggestions for how to rule Nothern Ireland if the local politicians cannot/will not take over. Mostly she is in the paper as a choreographer of dance and fashion shows.

Don't say things like that, you make me feel as though I've wasted my life. I've just had a conversation with my dad, whose trying to convince me into becoming an acustic consultant with a 50 grand a year salary!
I'm at that stage in my life, where I have to start specialising, yeah apparently the job market is satuated with environmental managers, they're a dime a dozen...
Anyway, has your daughter 33 considered studing a phD rathering than reading them ?
Hiya neighbour
tartaronne Posted Apr 24, 2006
Reading a phD - a literal translation from Danish . Studying for, reading, writing, making a phD is different in Denmark than in Britain. In Denmark the phD-maker is both studying and teaching - i.e. getting paid for the work. In Nothern Ireland my daugther has to pay to study. Here education at university is free, and you get a grant to live on.
Acoustic consultant - for different kinds of buildings like offices, factories, daycare, churches - or is it about music?
Environmental managers What exactely are you qualified for now? Do you have to specialize? Is it a popular education since the jobmarket is satuated?
