Hi there! I'm a dreadful old lurker although I do let people know. 'Scuse me for butting in.
I saw you asked GB for making instructions? Well, never forget where you are! This is the Hitchikers Guide after all. Have a look:

Edited by DNA himself. Remember Ford's quest for a decent cuppa in the books?

Thank You soooo much coelacanth!!! I got up this morning and there was NO coffee in the house. I do have some Earl Grey and English Breakfast tea, though... so I'm going to try those instructions. Only ONE problem. I don't own a teapot, the shame of it all.
Life isn't fair.
I'll get over it.
Maybe a good-looking Santa will bring me a lovely teapot. Heck with the teapot, as long as he's good-lookin'.
Now, if I could just find that mistletoe... Here Santa, here boy!
Merry Christmas, One and All!!!

I always start my day with English Breakfast Do you have leaves or bags there? Perhaps a jug could be a stand in for the teapot? For the real English experience you could try Marmite http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A184097 on toast with the
Just don't tell Orcus!
I hope your good looking arrives!

Oh, I've HEARD of Marmite.
Trying to kill me, are you?
I have bags, loose leaves are hard to come by and very expensive, but at least a Yank CAN find them these days. Hmmm. No jug either...I need my caffiene!!!!!!! AAAAAaaaaaaarrrrrrgggGGGGGHHHH!!!! Oh, I'll just have to make it the old fashioned way... microwave a mug of water, then plunk the bag in it until it turns a decent color. Drink it while making faces... yuk. TRY to contain your horror, people. I'll get better equipment, soon. I'm still learning. Americans are clueless about these matters.
What's the diff between a cookie and a biscuit? Also clueless.
I'd probably like marmite... I like the taste of yeast.
Santa's not here yet, but he did send snow. Yay!!!

Oh, here AW
*passes*
Coely, did I just see you change sex?
Were you lurking that thread I mentioned hoping I didn't upset male lurkers {}
It's snowing where you are, AW?
Our snow has been and gone!
Marmite!
That ranks *almost* as highly as the stuff they cram under the icing of gorgeous fruit and it totally spoils the taste
There's a great advert here for marmite, they show a bloke going to his girl and he repels and is sick.
The viewer is then shown a slice of bread and marmite in the kitchen which has been bitten.
I love advertizers that take the p*ss out of themselves
Skoda have brought one out, the car salesman is chatting to a lady who, on accepting another , runs off after he goes to get her it. He'd mentioned the word "Skoda" just once too often -

I didn't change sex GB, just blushed a bit! As you know, I lurk round lots of threads. Didn't see you upset anyone though.
Are there no kettles in Ohio? Microwaved water for your just can't be the same! What about boiling a pan of water on a hob? It must be "boiling" - not "boiled". I do remember when I was at uni the US students saying they had no kettles, but surely things have moved on since then?
Marmite is a love it or hate it thing. Never offer any to Orcus, AGB or Greebo come to that! I'm sure you'd like it Washcloth. Mmmm. Its lovely stuff!

::Laughing until my sides ache.::
Thanks for the "imaginary" , AGB. How thoughtful!
I took a shower and I'm going out for some real coffee!! I couldn't bring myself to drink my either. Sorry I made you . I always wondered why tea makes me feel nauseated... it's the method, or lack thereof that does it.
I'm up to my armpits in things I need to do today, so where do you think I'd rather be? Yep. Plunked down in front of the 'pooter talking to you. I'll procrastinate as long as possible, then run around in a panic!!! Makes life more interesting.
I love those kinds of commercials, they're only in Britain, though. American advertisers don't have the same sense of humor. Nothing beats British humor, you're the funniest, in my humble opinion.
I'll make a proper reply to the howdy thread, after I get my coffee!!!

I honestly thought you'd seen where I mentioned male lurkers and I put an in brackets,
Trying to remember the thread, I know I posted some jokes...oh the dumb jokes thread! On AW's page as well.
So pleased you appreciate our humour, dear AW.
There is nothing sexier, IMHO, than someone who can laugh at themselves or laugh easily.

Ooops! I simulposted with . No, I don't own a kettle either. I'm a minimalist. Sad really. I've gotten rid of everything that's not actively used in the house. I don't have to clean as much that way. Of course, that DOES cut down on the creature comforts that are so well done in Great Britain. I could use some comfort. I think I'll try it your way...
Until then, sorry, I gotta make a coffee run!!!

If you have no kettle, how do you make the coffee? Just curious. Even a minimalist would have a kettle in the UK I'm sure. We do like our
I think I did see that comment GB. Actually you'd be surprised how many people wave at me in threads I have never posted to! I know you do.

I have a Black & Decker one mug at a time coffee maker!! I love it. My friends and I go out to Starbucks for coffee, we're incredibly lazy people. It's sick...I know.

A Black and Decker coffee maker?
That would be an oxymoron in the UK.
Over here, B & D = men & their tools - I mean the shelf-putting-up ones.
I would say an electric kettle is a necessity, not a luxury, I'd be lost without mine! the thought!
I even keep a spare in case the one I'm using blows up!
