Dearest Spike......I'm in need of some assistance, and since you're an ACE,I thought you could help me out. I joined h2g2 quite a few months ago; today I experienced some problems with my computer. When I restarted it I went to h2g2 and I had to reregister because my user name and password weren't clearing! What I'm wondering is this, how do I go about getting rid of my old space? I'm sorry to bother you with such a stupid mistake, but I'm relatively new to computers and, well.........anyway,any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
zola

No problem, zola! That's what I'm here for.
First and foremost, check your password, then check the caps lock key. Ah, caps lock. The key that has plagued account holders of all types since the first login screen. If that fails, well...
Here's the problem. You can't delete it or get the login info because, well, if Researchers could delete (potentially) other Researchers' spaces, it wouldn't take long for something to go wrong. The only people who can really do anything are the Italics, and they would probably want conclusive proof that you're the same person. It you can give that, by all means ask them.
If you can't, though, there's not much you can do, I'm afraid. I'm sure other Researchers will believe you, so getting back into your conversations shouldn't be hard. You don't have a journal, I see, so that's not a problem. If you had Guide Entries, you could copy them to new Entries (and you might as well copy your space intro). Your Edited Entries, however, are a little trickier. I doubt you could get put on their Researcher lists without the same proof needed for the above options, but you could always post a link on your new space to the old one (or the Entries themselves) so that everyone knows what great work you've done . Just leave the account alone, and maybe amend your new account's nickname to let people know that this is the new, functional one.
I'm sorry this happened. It's a shame, and a bit of a pain, but you should be able to migrate to your new account fairly easily. Good luck!
-Spike A.
P.S., Ooh, ! May I?
