...I thought I'd start anew with you dearest seeing as you are giving me a taste of my own medicine
I have this computer to myself this afternoon because my comuter-mate has gone home to have a cold....Poor thing...but some of us have too much work to do to give in...

I tried to give blood yesterday but the vampire shoved the needle through my vein, and so I am now sporting a great big blue and black in the inside of my arm...I would not mind but I was bit by a dragon on Sunday night (Oh alright it was my own fault...I have this lovely batic dragon print in a big wooden frame and I had it precariously pearched on my new computer desk. The desk has wheels. I bumped into it. Can you guess? So I now look a bit like I'm mainlineing hard drugs.... Not a look to go for in a hospital I'm sure :/

I got a great treat on Monday night. My boyfreind surprised me with tickets to go see Peter Green, on of my alltime favorite guitarists I didn't even know he was playing in London!!!!!!

My boss has been on holiday for the last week or so, and of coure everything is now working.....possibly cos he isn't on my back about it every day... I wonder if I could convince him to NEVER be in while I'm here, I could finish my PhD in a year if this keeps up!

Anyway...I needs must go and contunie the good works!

what a simply super surprise. I knew that you were working hard, but I did not know that you had had so manay calamities befall you.
First the dragon jumping out of the frame and attacking you! and then the the beastly vampire who tried to take blood and went through your arm.

I feel for you as I have dreadful veins - as does my poor K. He is supposed to have a test every month and he often comes back like a pincushion with bits of plaster all over him - sometimes they even have to try the veins on his hand!!.

Could you give time off to your b*** so that you couold finish your PhD? that would be a very good idea.

And what a splendid boy friend you have to get you surprise tickets for your favourite guitarist. I am asahmed to say that I have not heard of him but I love the guitar - both classical and jazz.

I am pressing on slowly with my holiday plans. Having problems getting someone to come with me and the two family members on holiday to Cornwall. I feel I cannot go all that way without at least one reasonably agile "coherent" person accompanying me!.

There is a new thread which is going to start in time for the week of September 9th to the 14th.It is going to be called the Random Act of Kindness. The thrust of the new thread is that one is supposed to do an act of kindess to someone whom one does not know, and who does not know you for no other reason that one is trying offset the dreadful violence which exists all around us. It seems rather a good idea I think. I shall post the correct thread to you and then you can recruit all your chums if they would like to join in.

I've been lurking at you, so I know about the site. Fortunately for me, the things you suggest...like saying thank you and meaning it, wishing stranger a good day etc are stuff I do anyway to stave off becoming a Londoner...
But I shall be sure to let others know.....If you want to do it yourself...and feel up to it, you can 'plug' the entry in your name...just go to preferences and after your name write something along the lines of.*RAOK...why not give it a go....* and then put in the entry number. People do respond to those sorts of things...And it'll save you telling peeps individually!

The idea is not mine - it is and she has said that she will post it for me. but I could not get hold of her posting. I shall contact her and if I do not manage to get it I shall ask her if I can do as you suggest.
Good on you for doing all those things. I mostly do them myself except that I cannot abide rude and discourteous drivers.
I went to the bank this morning. I cannot get up the steps in my wheelchair and so normally I ask someone to go in and bring out a teller.(Jolly cold in winter!!) Today practically every second person asked me if they could help. The message must have already got out.
