I got your email and answered... Lurcher's not on much, and when he is, he can't always be on long enough to get around to everybody... The surest way to get a fast response from him here is to scratch his ears *plans to do so the next time he's on*
I'm not really awake enough at the moment to think of something long to say this time, so I'll just leave you a and a mufflewhump...

Very dear Paper lady, thank you for your reply. I have suggested to that he contacts you if he would like my email address. If he does perhaps you would be good enough to act as our post mistress!! I am going swimming this morning so hope that I shall be able to manage to do even more than last week which was 600 metres. to think that I used to swim a mile and a half every day of my life for four years. Thank goodness I did because I am sure it is that that is keeping me going now. I believe that we are going to have snow fairly soon. I love snow. Have I told you that the St. Vincent of Paul society of our local church have loaned me an electric scooter. I got on it the other day and felt very vulnerable - I am terrified that I shall fall off and then what!!. Splat on the road. Have you noticed all th new smileys. Dancer has sent me a letter with nothing but smileys on it. It is going to take me hours to decipher it. Time which I really do not have but it was very nice of him. I see that he is coming to nodnoL in January. Why don't you come over. You can come and stay with me and go into the party yourself? It would be great to meet you. With much affection and a big AR1 the ess

I would love to, really I would. (And I'm assuming Tom's invited, too?) But we haven't any passports, and, of course, there isn't time to get any between now and then. Also, I don't think I could talk him into flying to the UK right now... I'm going to have a tough enough time convincing him that we should go to the Pennsylvania meet this summer, and that's much closer. He doesn't understand why I want to meet a bunch of people I've never seen... (I'm not fully awake yet, so I'm not sure that last sentence makes sense...) But at least I've finally broached the subject with him. Now, if I could only get up the guts to mention that there's a possibility that 2legs might be able to fly over sometime next year, and that Light is planning to, as well, she just doesn't know when. It should be easier to mention Light's visit, since we have a standing invitation to stay at her house if we ever get to the UK... Though with how often and how long 2legs and I speak on the phone, it should be obvious to Tom what good friends we are...
Anyway, I'll send Lurcher your email address later today, and then he can take it from there, if he wants...

Dear Paper Lady, Thank you for being so efficient. And I have received a reply. Great! Of course your dear Tom is invited!!. Incidentally is he a member of the h2g2? Perhaps I could write to him? I am truly interested in someone who changes his career from History to the Ministry. A very wonderful person I would think. I have also been shown by how to decipher the smileys quickly which is a great asset. So I can now "read" Dancer's reply to me without straining my eyes too much. He is a dear fellow. I was very thrilled because yesterday I swam 20 lengths(500metres) backstroke without stopping. The first time I have done it for ages. and I felt great afterwards. It is wonderful the way one can swim in the water and yet be totally gormless on land. It is still dreadful when one thinks that I used to swim a mile and a half a day when I was in training - well over fifty years ago. And in an unheated pool!I used to sometimes sit on the edge of the pool for half an hour and eventually have to beg my trainer to push me in because I knew I could not face the cold water myself. Well, my dear litte let, continue to be our shining lighting us all on our merry way. A big from the aged ess. AR1

Yes, he is an h2g2er, technically, but I can never get him to come on... (OK, to be fair, I've got the computer tied up all the time, but I've told him repeatedly that if he wants on, I'll get off... And the one time he did, I did...) If you want to leave him a message, his name on here is Thomas Didymus, and he's linked from my space (He's the only person *not* in a drop down box.)

Hi Thomas Didymus, Your dear little wife has just given me your name and I would like to introduce myself. I am an Grannie in her early seventies who discovered this site completely by accident. I read what the aims of it were according to the founder Douglas Adams and as I also have the same beliefs in its strengths and its potential to put people of like ideas in contact with one another, I joined. The result is that I have some super contacts with people in America, Canada and England. It would be great to be in contact with you as I am deeply interested in History and also in Religion. As you have studied/are studying both we surely must have some things in common!! I have a great many other interests, music, sport, gardening and of course cooking which I love. I hope to hear from you and also if you are writing a thesis what your topic is. With kind regards. AR1

Um, dear, you do realize that you put Tom's greeting here...?
Drop down boxes are those things that have the little down arrows next to them... The link to Tom's space is the name with the s around it...
(For once I've seen a note from you right after you sent it)

Hi Paper Lady, Do you realise that the letter I have just written to your spouse is the first one that I have initiated. Why? Because I never knew how to do it until you explained it to me And now you have not only taught me how to do that but also explained what dropdowns are. I do not have one do I? I have been so thrilled because I now have quite a few friends on the h2g2 and this is just what I need and want. Have a great day tomorrow Sunday. Sleep tight and a big from you loving old AR1

No, you don't have a dropdown box on your space, because it has to be in GuideML... But you are in one of my drop boxes The third one. The one for friends who don't have me in their fan clubs (the people whose clubs I'm in are on the first list) or aren't in my fan club (the second list) (though a couple of the people on the second list I don't know well enough to list them as friends, really, but they showed up in my fan club, so they got listed...)

Hi Amy I have asked Light to put some on ice so that all my friends can go and have a drink at 14.30 (GMT). My grandaughter Phillipa is marrying her gorgeous Greg in a garden wedding at that time. Please ask Tom to toast their health as well. I'll write again later as I have lots more invitations to send out. With an affectionate AR1

I just didn't have much to say!
Finished the last of my Christmas shopping during lunch today, unless I get some more stocking stuffers for Tom's stocking... I really should have gone yesterday, because it wasn't raining! Wouldnt you know it--the one day I decide not to bring my umbrella... I'm glad the wedding went well.
