Neural implants.. The only way to fly
Or how about those froody headsets, with micro lasers that beam directly into your eyes?
Or how about cyber-contact lenses? Or holographic displays?
Ah, and how about computers you could talk to, a la star trek?

I just *loved* that scene in "The Voyage Home" when Scotty tried to talk to the computer.
The bloke pointed to the mouse and Scotty picked it up and spoke into it.
"No, type here...."
"A keyboard! How quaint"

I just came along to say: I am a middle-aged Star Trek fan also. (48 is m.a., isn't it? Gulp) I also *love* Blakes 7, Ultraviolet, Dr Who .. and .. well. I gather you're Canadian John Luke (anywho which I have only ever heard Canadians say) so you may not know Blakes7, but it *rocks*!

Hi Della
At the moment my 'diet' is Star Trek in its various guises, Star Gate SG1 and Andromeda. I haven't seen any of the others for a long time.
Did I say 'anywho'? I don't recall it. Anyway I'm not Canadian, I'm Irish.
Ta Ra for now. (or TTFNQ, as we say locally)

'Blake's 7' ?? Never even heard of it
Most of the SF here is on the 'Space' channel, which seems to delight in repeatedly airing the worst sci-fi you ever had the misfortune to watch
And they don't even have Red Dwarf!!!!

Stargate SG-1 is brillo pads! It's on here, Tuesday nights (i.e., last night) so my son and I saw it - an episode about the Tollan and thr sacrificing themselves for Earth - which i felt was a bit off. But it's usually excellent! I love Blakes 7, and of course, Avon - I think every woman did/does.. although Vila had charm as well. No, sorry, John Luke - I was confusing with someone else whose space I went to yesterday - s/he definitely said 'anywho'.. I used to be engaged to a Canadian, and they're distinctive.
TTFNQ? I usually say TTFN to my Liverpool penfriend Tom, but am not familiar with yr one... I am sorry for those who have only c**p sf available - although that's been our NZ situation for too long. TV3 and TV4 which play sf here, are haemorrhaging $$ and so if we lose them, we lose all sf but for Stargate.. ooh, I forgot Dr Who, B7 and Ultraviolet on Prime - they don't rate, cos half the country can't get Prime. Sigh... I made an exhaustive list of all mediasf a while ago - British/American and other - probably forgot some stuff - Canadian/German co-productions like Lexx for instance. My 14 year old loves Lexx, I hate it, Total Downer!! TTFN, D.

Stargate is easily the second best sci-fi on the box atm.
Hasn't anyone else here seen Farscape?
We're on series 3 on BBC2 - it gets better and better!
There's an entry on Blake's 7 for those who have never heard of it, and I'll keep my eye open for videos

I am suffering severe frustration over Farscape. Although it is made "next door" (in Australia), all we're seeing of it here, are old season 1 episodes. I have a faint hope that series 1 is being played just to remind people of it,when they show 2 - and if we're lucky, 3! I hated it when it was on in NZ in '97, but I am giving it a 2nd chance, and either I am fairer to it, or it has got better. (I admit it has to be the former...) Stargate SG-1 is just good!

Stick with Farscape.
I promise you won't be disappointed!
Season 2 was much better than season 1, and season 3 is
Good job you're not in Sho's ~drool~ thread, a lot of spoilers in there
Oh, and there's a Farscape Appreciation Society with outside links posted here:

I will stick with it, but I can't wait for series 2 and 3 to arrive here - TV4 are still playing the years-old series 1, bad cess to them. Don't know why...
I suppose to all of you,Ultraviolet is old and boring, but we're just getting to the climax of it here... part VI on Monday. Another one I'd like to see repeated (didn't see it in the '80s when it was on, is 'Legend of Robin Hood'I have the album by Clannad.

Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor Posted Nov 24, 2001
Which "Robin" was that played by?
Can't remember it.....
I think I have seen a couple of "Ultraviolet" but it's not played much here.
Saw a "Lexx" the other night
Very disappointing.

The Robin Hood thing was with Michael Praed and Judi Trotter (?) - I have a poster with the characters and actors (from the Clannad album.) Apparently, it was an historical drama with sword'n'sorcery elements.
Ultraviolet finished last night, and Jimmy remarked that it *could* have another series - it was 1998 he says (I can't read the dates at the end of TV shows - too small)
Lexx really stinxx. That's my opinion anyway, tho' Jimmy loves it. Maybe it's a 14 year old thing, there's a 14 yr old girl on the Star Trek msg bd who also loves it. The best thing in Lexx was Rutger Hauer (my secret love, no secret any more...
