Clean Your Own @#$%^&* Rug!

Post 1

I work at a rug cleaning business in the uptown area of This City. The people who fill my day are rich and stupid. i just had a lady call me up and ask for someone to come out and pick up her rug for cleaning. when i asked for her address, she didn't even know it! she lives in some big fancy building that goes by a special fancy name. meanwhile, none of the special fancy residents know their addresses. she put me on hold so she could look herself up in the phone book. doesn't this woman use the mail system? or does she now hire someone to open her mail for her? and you get a ten persent discount if you bring in your rug and pick it up yourself. you would not believe how important it is for these people, who have just brought in a floor covering that costs more than three months rent at my place, to get their friggin ten percent, "i get a discount, don't forget my discount, what about my ten percent. i get a ten percent discount, you know..." I KNOW!!! I WORK HERE!!! IT'S MY JOB TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR DISCOUNT!!!!!I WON'T FORGET! and then comes the realization that the discount is ten percent but the tax is nine percent, so it's like not getting a discount at all, and that's not right. And they're soooo friggin snooty. like i'm not a real person because i'm behind a counter. for your information, i'm a college graduate and a published writer. snootyness is not a good attitude when you're going to a place to pay people to do something because you can't do it yourself. i'd love to see one of these rich old ladies on all fours scrubbing her rug down. but on the upside, today i had a ham & funyuns sandwich with mayo & mustard and some blackberry tea. i went food shopping saturday and cleaned my house sunday. i'm almost like a real person now. let's wait and see what happens when i do my laundry.

When I was still working I was a clerk in retail, and I can certainly remember my share of snooty customers who treated me like a nonperson. Some people were real nice, and I really appreciated them, but some people were just awful. One time I was wearing a cap at work, and I asked a cutomer "May I help you?" And he said, "Yes, I want your cap." I was rather taken aback, and said no, and he acted very offended, "I thought you wanted to help me!" smiley - laugh
