Rik Mayall is awesome - I wanna get his jackanory episodes on tape/DVD as well, I think he did some Dahl books. They were brilliant. But I dunnae think you can get them?

And Z, as for Dark Crystal, I'm sure they'd like it, only sad thing is it is me that still remains afeared of that filum since I watched it when I was a kiddie. Them gelfs(?) or whatever, were eerie. I think the next step in their education of all things Henson has got to be the storyteller stuff.

Didn't Rik do George's Marvellous Medicine? I remember that being my favourite Jackanory reading smiley - biggrin

Mina - do you have any facility for making copies of that video? I would really appreciate one. It's not available commercially on DVD, and I'm refusing to buy commercial videos now that my VCR is on its last legs.

I don't I'm afraid, I've only got one vcr and I don't think that works properly anymore. Three times I've recorded things off the tv lately, and it's turned the recording off before the end. smiley - grr OK, so the films weren't that good, but I'd really got into at least one of them.

I also don't know exactly where the video is, as they're all packed away waiting for some shelving to sit on.

"it's turned the recording off before the end"

Did you put the clock forward in March?

Yes, and the remote control, that's one of the ones that I don't forget. smiley - biggrin Funnily enough, they both stopped at adverts, so I'm wondering if the PDC is playing up. The other day it started recording at the right time for something that hadn't quite started due to it running a bit late, then turned itself off. smiley - cross Luckily I'd stayed up to check it worked as I didn't want to miss the programme.

I'm going to get one of those DVD/video combinations when I upgrade.

I have a friend who got one off eBay, I didn't know they existed until he mentioned it!

I just don't like discs at all. If I take something out of the machine before it's finished, I want it to be in the same place when I put it back in. smiley - cross

I sort of dislike DVD's becuase they all come with extra features and blooper reels and making of featurettes and all that. I think, for certain films, magic is lost if you watch all the behind the scenes footage. I saw the out take real for Star Wars Episode 1, not my favorite film anyway, and was almost mentally scared by all the shots of a clunky R2D2 falling over and bumping blindly into walls and all the surrounding actors breaking character and laughing. Sometimes, just the film is enough. BUt then, conversely, sometimes they are cool, the making of Labrynth featurette is smart, the stuff on the dodgeball dvd is good and the extended LOTR stuff is awesome, so I guess I just hate progress - I stuck with vinyl and only sold out to CD's after it became almost nigh on impossible, save for mail order, to go out and buy albums on the black stuff anymore.
