h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I see you've already had a visit from Mistdancer but I always think 'the more the merrier' I'm deackie (another ACE) and I thought I'd pop in with and to welcome you to h2g2. This place can seem a little overwhelming at first but everyone is very friendly and there are plenty of people to ask for help.

Hi Deackie, sorry for the delay in replying - it's all been a bit hectic this week (parties and things, it was my last week at work, off to Uni shortly - so my responses may become even more eratic!).

Hope everything's fine . Have you had many new joiners lately - how many poeple are there anyway, have you any idea?

Everything's fine with me thanks There have been loads of new users in the last week. The current total of registered researchers is 87994 as I type this. If you look at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/info it tells you all sorts of interesting statistics.

Try not to party too hard, you need to save some strength for parties at uni Student union prices

The course is a BA(Hons) in Contemporary Furniture Design - and I can't wait!!! - I hope the sensation lasts! I'm counting my pennies already - it's going to be an interesting exercise in monetary restraint...

That's an amazing amount of people - it's just incredible that it's so easy to communicate with so many people!

Make the most of that feeling, I'm sure it'll last all the time you aren't approaching deadlines or exams. You'll definitely learn budgeting (although you won't necessarily stick to it) and good luck with the monetary restraint Where are you going to study? Are you moving away from home?

I'm moving up to High Wycome (I'm near Portsmouth at the moment), and it's called Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College (to give it it's full title!), so yeah it's a bit of a major change. I'll be sharing a house with three other people (who I've never met, just spoken to on the phone! (they sound Ok though!)) - I didn't want to go into the Halls of residence, I value my sleep too much...

Halls of residence are great when you're 18, leaving the parental home for the first time and wanting to meet loads of new people and party. Otherwise they are a grim experience I should think: badly decorated, poorly wired, small, and walls the thickness of paper. At least you've spoken to the people you'll be sharing with on the phone, I suppose that as long as you all agree on the ground rules, ie. don't drink my milk and do your own washing-up, at the beginning everything should be fine. Uni is great fun

Yeah, I think it'll be great - not long to go now! I sart on the 24th September!!!
