it's still another language to me but i am taking my time and looking around and trying to work out what the f**k is going down,

It took me ages! Do you use classic goo skin or alabaster? (classic goo is a blue background, and alabaster is the white, boring one). Classic goo is much more restive, so if you don't already use it, go to "Preferences" and change it. It's a lovely gooey blue!
