Yeah, I try not to mingle with those undesireables myself 
But, heh, seriously, with one or two exceptions most of my friends are casual rockers. I had one of them come to borrow some CDs to stock up his iPod with last week, ended up going away with 41 of the buggers! If that'll help spread the word, I'm all for it

I've gotten one or two people hooked on metal myself, and I also know some people who listen to other kinds of music, like Flogging Molly and stuff like that.

It's very rewarding when you can point those kinds of people closer and closer towards The Good Stuff. I guess everyone reaches an age where they find their niche and for the most part they're settled...

Cor blimey! This time last year I was throwing myself into NSBM, and probably collecting dismal and depressing songs for the winter months. The more I think about the approaching winter, the more I can't get Norwegian Black Metal out of my head. I practically already know which CDs are going to be dusyted off over the coming months. I welcome the darkness

Yeah, can't stand them. I heard the song Dark Saga on a Final Fantasy 9 AMV - the videos well cool, but everything else from the three albums I've got hold of has just been ok to awful.
There's a band making waves over here called Intense who are similar to Iced earth. Now, that stuff I like!

I've got Iced Earth's Burnt Offerings. That one's pretty good. Haven't heard of Intense though.
