Zarquon's Singing Fish!

Whilst on our camping holiday, I took Roy's trumpet with me. As I'm still a learner (and only playing irregularly), I was a bit shy of taking it out in the open. I was just about comfortable playing scales, managing to get reasonably good ones regularly. I'd never tried a tune, and not having any music with me, I thought I could play 'Doh a deer', which I managed with some difficulty. When I attempted a second tune, one of the long-suffering neighbours asked me if I had a CD. That did the trick; I put the trumpet away.

Don't let that put you off. Trumpet is beautiful, and sad when played properly, and I am sure it is not something to be learnt quickly. Stick with it.

Look forward to the CDsmiley - smiley

Zarquon's Singing Fish!

Thanks, Websailor smiley - dragon

I can get an octave and a couple of higher notes now, although not consistently. It's apparently a matter of lip or mouth shape memory. I can play the first little bit of 'Botany Bay' now, too. I know it will take a fair time to learn to be competent. Whether I'll reach Roy's standard is another matter. Little smiley - fish says he wants to learn, although he hasn't shown a great deal of interest in handling it and attempting notes.
