LIttle has got really keen on the song 'Dance to your Daddy', particularly the version by Bob Fox. I was playing it on the computer and he came in the room and go me out of my seat and started walzing with me. He made a really good fist of it too - arm round my waist and taking the lead. The look on his face was really joyful. I've just downloaded the Theme from Titanic for him from iTunes and he's just buzzing with the music. And he paid for half of it with his pocket money too. Bless!

I've just shown little your posting Ladye_S and he was delighted. He loves the idea of virtual dancing.
We're just putting a CD together at the moment. The one that's just gone on (another little purchase) is the theme from Titanic. He's just put 'Everybody Hurts' on immediately before.. I think he's a romantic at heart.

Yes, Websailor - I hadn't considered him to be very romantic until this episode. Children have the capacity to surprise, don't they. I've now completed the CD for him and there's a fair amount of classical stuff there and one clip from Star Wars - 'Battle of the Heroes', which he has thought is absolutely wonderful for quite some time now. It even includes a piece from Gilbert and Sullivan. I'm really happy that he has fairly Catholic tastes. And of course, (some) classical music is meant to help with learning and also with mood control.

I've told leetle fish what you've said, LS. He smiled. Apparently he heard it on an advert for children's tv.

Hi,
I believe very strongly in the power of music. It has been my saviour many times. It is possible to enhance a mood, and change a mood with the right music.
It worries me that a lot of the 'music' of today seems geared to aggravate, irritate and enhance aggression. I know I sometimes find some of it so irritating I could throw things
I am sure more soothing music would calm people down, especially children.
I too, have very catholic taste. There is no genre I dislike as a whole. I have only one criteria - that it has to touch me in some way.
Your little is very lucky to have such a good start.

LS - the REM track is apparently used on 'Jungle Run" on CITV.
Websailor - oh I so agree about music. I think little is doing very well - he also has quite catholic tastes. I used to sing to him when he was in my tummy and when he was very little, if I was having difficulty getting to do something I asked him to, then if I sang the instruction, it worked much better. When he was very little, if he got upset, I used to sing 'Teddy Bears Picnic' to him and it worked. When he was at pre-school, I had to write out the words for them as no-one knows it these days.
