Whilst I was at work today, I got a call around lunchtime from little 's school and was told he had a message for me. They put him on and he told me that he'd forgotten to tell me he had a chess tournament after school and would need picking up at 6pm. I said I would try to get there a bit early so I could see some of the match.
I arrived at around 5.15pm to find that he had already played and had won his match. Last time, he lost. They were playing at home this time, and he said that he thought home advantage worked in his favour.
Whilst it would be nice if he excelled at chess, I don't think I would want him turning out like Bobby Fischer, who seems to have been a real fruit-cake. http://www.bobby-fischer.net/ A real genius, but definitely off-the-wall. I well remember the excitement of the World Chess Championships against Boris Spassky. Remember the issue over the yoghurt?

Very dear little
Congratulations on your chess tournament. It is really wonderful that you are so good at it. I cannot remember the moves!! You will have to play with K. next time you come to visit us.
I wonder who taught you? Are you also learning a wind instrument? Mum seems to be enjoying her trumpet blowing!!
K. joins me in saying "Congrats and well done"
With much affectionate

I'll tell little , Christiane and K.
Yes, he did really well. It was lovely to watch the kids discussing the moves they made with each other and it all seemed to be done in wonderful spirit.
I'm sure that he would like to play with K when we come to visit next.

I've just spoken with little and he asked after K, Christiane. He wanted to know if he was better. Do tell K that little was asking after him!

Thanks my
How thoughtful of little
Yes he is. It is so difficult to keep his sugar level done. Particularly as it was his medication that gave him diabetes!!
with much affection

Hi,
I was speaking to Christiane today, and she said what a bright little fellow little is, and this just proves it.
Tell little that a funny lady on HooToo called Websailor says he must be very clever just to play chess. But to win, well, that's something else

I'll certainly tell him that, Websailor. Yes, playing to win is something else, isn't it. When I was taught the rules as a late teenager, I could play, but didn't know how to win, so I used to try to play not to loose, which is no way to win at all!
