Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor Started conversation Aug 12, 2001
Hi and welcome to h2g2.
My name is Galaxy Babe and I am an Assistant Community Editor (ACE) and also a Guardian Angel for fun!
Just one of a group of researchers who like to meet, greet and hopefully befriend newcomers to the guide.
There are plenty of things to do around the Guide, from chatting in forums to writing your own Guide entries.
If you wish to see the Guide entries I have written, please click on my name and you will be taken to my personal space, where the entries are recorded.
You can also visit http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/PeerReview where you can read prospective entries, and add your comments if you wish.
Constructive critisism is always welcomed!
As you travel round, you will find more and more interesting things.
Do not worry about getting lost, you can always return "home" by clicking on the "My Space" button on each page.
Every conversation you take part in will be listed on your page, these are your "threads". Every time someone posts after you, the thread will be refreshed on your page.
You can then return and reply if you wish.
When you no longer wish to participate in a particular conversation, you can click the "unsubscribe" link just below it, and the thread will be removed from your page. Then click on "my space" to return home.
No doubt you will be interested in the smileys/emoticons
Just click on one and you will be transported to the smiley page like or click here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/smiley
I have made a page of interesting links here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/smiley/A487857
If I can be of any further assistance to you, or you'd just like to chat, just click the reply button and I will return
Hope to see you around!
Happy Hitchhiking
~Galaxy Babe~

Hi, Galaxy Babe,
How nice to have a Guardian Angel or to be one! Thanks for your welcome. I'll have a good look around before contributing properly. I'm going to have a good look at anything to do with Kilimanjaro. I went to Tanzania as a teenager on a scholarship and have always wanted to go back and have another go. I also want to see how things have changed since I was there. I helped to build a building which i thought was to be used as a base camp for climbers. In those days, you got a crown of everlasting flowers if you reached the summit. I got a posy. Not the same. There's the small matter of getting fit first (although I'm not wholly unfit) and of raising the money. However, where there's a will there's a way.

You can use the "search" facility to find anything on Kilimanjaro, if you can't find anything you may like to write about it yourself!
Let me know if you do, and I will proof read it for you.
I hope you get to climb again.
How are you finding h2g2?
Do you like it?
Addicted yet?

Hi, Galaxy Babe,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I'm enjoying h2g2. I could easily become addicted, but I don't yet have an e-mail account that allows me unlimited off peak entry, so I have to be careful how long I spend on-line.
I've posted an entry on the Experiment in International Living, and would like to submit it, but I'm a little unsure. I would appreciate it if you would have a look and give feedback.
The concept is quite inspiring, but I'm not sure whether I've made it interesting enough. What do you think?

Hi,
I still can't quite remember where I got may name. Vague memories of 'Holy Zarquon's singing fish!, from Zaphod Beeblebrox, somewhere. It came as quite a strong memory, but the exact text has still eluded me. Any thoughts?
Thanks for being the first person to welcome me to h2g2.<smiley type="star"/>

Hmm... How do people post those cool smileys in conversations?

Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor Posted Oct 6, 2001
to type the smiley just:
< star > {without the spaces}
< angel > =
< bluefish > =
or the simple ones
: - ) =
< > < =
The smiley page is here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/smiley {or just click on a smiley!}

Hi, Galaxy Babe,
Thanks for the advice on smileys . I feel I can now use them happily .
On another note you said you might comment on any articles I did. Would you have a look at this:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A632279
and let me know whether in your opinion it is now ready.

Excuse you, HappyDude.
That entry on Peace Dancing is very good, ZSF.
I'd say it's ready for Peer Review.
Please go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/PeerReview and read the page.
Then post your entry with the title of your antry ant the "A632279" number in the title of the post. This is VERY important.
Then post the link in the first posting, like you did for me, above.
You may want to post the link to the Peer Review thread at the entry, for your own reference, and any other passing researcher searching for any entry on "peace"

That should have read:
"Then post your entry with the title of your entry and the "A632279" number in the title of the post. This is VERY important."
