Phew!!!
Just been sucessfully Lorenzo'd; now we are proudly plugged into two modems!!!
Using the old dial up thingy at present but boredband thingy plugged in as well & waitng for it to "synchronise"; at which point I am instructed to phone him & reconnect, until then it's the old phone-or-beastie choice.
But very very good to be back in touch with the "real " world of the internet!
The "real life" human is here too & being pressed into service re-arranging the room to accomodate ever incresing cables linking Terri to her essential contacts 
(also peeling potatoes; this poor soul was duped into believing he was here for some sort of holiday.)
Ah la belle France or something; off now into town to buy "wish you were here" type trinkets to pass on to his London friends!
Yoda at present murdering a butterfly; in-house guest proclaiming "Ahh, she's so cute she'd look adorable whatever she was murdering!"
Sweet!

Just off to look in vitual thesauri for the most expressive way of saying 
for the lifeline.

Hoorah! Sorry if sounded short on the phone but that echo is so off-putting. You say something in a suave drawl and back comes this piddly nasal whine. Ick.
