I suppose it's not a bad way to lose weight anyway. As for talent - well you're the muso - when do THEY ever do any dancing!?

well - almost. Just getting slightly into the jive. Basic stuff - but I'm sure a little practice would improve it a lot. Our bass player was jive champion of the West Midlands. Back in 1940 something!

So you're in a band, in the West Midlands. Used to live there years ago. Here comes the question all musos dread - how would you describe your group?

"not very good" is how i would describe it at the moment. we should be better but we're not very focussed. getting some gigs going soon though. we're a jazz group. (not trad).

It's something I'd like to do, play jazz. A few years ago I started a course at Goldsmith's College to learn jazz guitar, but never completed it.
The Jive Turkeys do covers.

I think covers is actually very hard. You have to really know what's going on in the original. Jazz, in some ways, is much easier, since you're expressing yourself through the instrument. There are conventions, of course. Rhythm and chords and stuff. I'm not into free jazz. Apropos jazz guitar - why not just carry on anyway - it's fun!
