To Blog or not to Blog?
Posted Dec 16, 2003
Odd thought for the day:I have been pondering the creation of a blog. Returning to H2G2 after a lengthy sabatical I remember the Journal. So now I ponder whether to blog here, where it's unlikely to be seen, or to have my ego crushed by blogging elsewhere and getting no hits and no readers.
Which leads to me thinking about whether I really want to be a writer, because I was toying with the idea of trying my hand at a web-column for some site or other and was wondering if I can handle the rejection of being denied or worse still "employed" and unread.
I think the single thing that this reveals to me, other than my apparent need for external validation, is that I have too much time on my hands to sit around and mope. Oh, and a spacebar that appears to be sticking. Time for a new keyboard?

In praise of Editors

and Sub Editors.
I've had one of my entries for the Guide vastly improved by a sub-editor.
It was one of the more pleasant surprises I've had this year. And it's inspired me to do more writing. So thanks!

Life is complex
Posted Nov 7, 2001
I have a new job on the horizon and a new house to move into (well, provisionally, anyway) and a leaving do to organise and stuff and stuff and stuff...
gasping for breath for a moment, I think that the future is looking rather bright; the complexity of juggling all the things I now need to juggle is amusing and entertaining rather than stressful, so it will all be worthwhile.
I hope.

Much profanity

There is a person I know who isone of the most manipulative, self centred, domineering downright *&%^-stirring people on the face of this planet.
This person has been away from a community for a long time. Now they have returned, in the middle of a minor crisis, and has immediately begun assuming the role of martyr.
This person is attracting all kinds of sympathy. In fact, this person has begun attracting sympathy AWAY from those people who are actually being hurt by the debacle. In public, this person is doing nothing to support either side of the arguement but in private will be doing everything to curry favour with both sides. I know this from experience.
I am sickened by how easily some people allow themselves to be manipulated and how simple it is for this person to attract the attention they crave.
I'm fuming mad - and I'm not even involved. I know I'm over reacting and it's not something I'm proud of but I wish that the people involved in this nasty, sordid little incident could see what the &^%$**&^*& is up to.

Write an Entry
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
