You sure know your movie directors! I couldn't have said it better. I love movies too.

Yeah, I love movies (or "films" as we usually call them in Britain). I'm writing one :P. Who's your favourite director, then?

It would have to be a tie between Steven Spielberg (Close Encounters, ET, Raiders, Schindler's List, etc.) and Peter Weir (Year of Living Dangerously, Witness, Dead Poet's Society, Truman Show, etc.) I like both of them very much. I am excited about a film Spielberg is supposed to start in January called Catch Me If You Can. It's the true story of con man Frank Abagnale, who successfully impersonated an airline pilot, a professor, an attorney, and a pediatrician during his criminal career. I just finished the book.

I should add that I also love Hitchcock and the Coen brothers. I loved Raising Arizona and Hudsucker Proxy by the Coens. Of course, Hitchcock had great style in all his movies.

I also like Spielberg. I also like the Coens, almost everything they've done that I've seen is fantastic. I like Terry Gilliam and Tim Burton because they are both imaginative and often "out there" directors.

Terry Gilliam is very imaginative. 12 Monkeys, Time Bandits, and Brazil are all part of my video collection. Jonathan Pryce was amazing in Brazil. Such a dark movie, but wildly funny too - like his tiny office, with all the mail tubes and only half a desk. Do you remember the controversy over the ending? The studio wanted to dumb it down - have Lowry escape. It would have made it easier to watch I suppose, but not so darkly brilliant, don't you think?
