Hello Captain Swan!
(I take it that's your nickname!)
I'm Kenrick, and I'm an ACE (Assistant Community Editor). I'm here to say a big 'hello' on behalf of the h2g2 Community and welcome to this online experience.
I have to say that I like the poetic introduction! smiley - winkeye Don't worry if it take's you sometime to think of stuff to write, it took me ages to think of my introduction!
Anyway, to help get you started, here are some links that you may or may not find helpful. I hope they're of the former category:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Askh2g2 - Ask the h2g2 community about absolutely anything, and you're sure to get a reply.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/HowdoI - If you're not sure on how to do something, this is the place to go to.

Captain Swan

Thanks very much for the welcome to H2G2! I've been wandering around here for the last couple of weeks, peeking at what's been going on and feeling a bit left out.

Thanks for saying you liked my poetic intro. It was a toss-up between that and another Dorothy Parker one, 'The Flaw in Paganism'. This reads: 'Drink and dance and laugh and lie/Love, the reeling midnight through,/For tomorrow we shall die!/(But, alas, we never do.)' A very appropriate poem for a Saturday night/Sunday morning, I think!

By the way, my nickname is Captain Swan and I wonder how I can get to change the rather impersonal researcher number identification so that it shows intsead of that. Mind you, I am sure that I should be able to find that out on the 'how to' section.

Thanks again for the welcome!

Looks like you've figured out how to change your nickname!
If you ever want a chat, just pop along over to my space (you can get to it by clicking on my nickname hyperlink at the header of this posting).
As for the poem, it is rather appropriate for Sat/Sun! I work at a local bar/restauraunt so I have some experience!
Good luck with writing stuff for the Guide (don't be pressured to write anything if you don't want to though), and I look forward to reading some of it.
As for the welcome, it's my job as an Ace! But I have to say it's a nice job to do. You get to meet loads of nice people! smiley - smiley
