Thanks smiley - cheers

He is doing his best to use it all up, but it took me 8 months and being trapped in for a month while they were serially ill to really work my way down into the pit, so let's hope I've had enough sleep to keep my head up for a while.

It helps to know that now he'll take a bottle I can get the occasional respite, being the only one who could feed him was really grinding me down. I don't feel on the point of tears constantly, which is liberating in itself.

I keep telling myself that I should feel lucky, t'Boy seems very bright and much of his early screaming was frustration that he couldn't get his body to enact what his brain dictated. T'Other seems very similar. I'll no doubt be glad of their intellect when they are older, and entertaining themselves and each other (t'Boy already astonishes me regularly) but hell, is it wearing before they can control themselves or communicate properly...

I'm loving your "what can I do with my life" thread as there are a fair few similarities in what we like in a job. It is giving me lots of food for thoughtsmiley - ok

Talking of jobs going tits-up... I was thinking about you a lot this weekend. I read Cynthia Cooper's book about WorldCom at the weekend, and since just about anything is grist to my blogging mill I've blogged about it. You can jump through to it from my original user name .worldpress.com (no wwws).

Hmm. I hate wordpress. I wrote a longish response to your post then hit submit but because I hadn't put my email addy in there it gave me an error which it didn't allow me to correct, it just gave me a blank comment form again. Grrr.

Oh and in case you were wondering, it was mostly a rant about chapter 11 and the fact that the company encouraged employees to keep their pensions in shares in the company.

Grr indeed. I've been using WP so long that I've forgotten it can be annoying. Thanks for trying to comment anyway.

As you can probably guess, I feel a lot of your pain. £12 per share to 60p is .... let's say it's the reason I haven't replaced the bathroom or got new double glazing. Fortunately at mine it was only bonuses (ha ha) and savings we were encouraged to keep in shares. But I do know people who lost just about all their savings, and who are now finding it hard to be in the right place at the right time for voluntary redundancy.

I was lucky in that as a contractor I didn't have money in the company, but I feel for those in their late 40s and 50s in the US who saw their old age get very much bleaker.

I understand why companies do this but still, that sucks smiley - tea

I think it's entirely immoral. I took very conscious decisions and ended up losing money, so I have no-one to blame, but I do know otherwise intelligent people who said things like "It's not as if we were taking a gamble on the stock market". smiley - sigh

The thing with having a mixed portfolio and spreading the risk is that you will - by definition - get some of your decisions wrong. But better that than getting all of them wrong.

Hey ho.
