Have been seeing you on a few threads and thought I'd stop by to say hello.

Have a bit of a problem with your name - FAT Kelli? And too trivial? Stuff and nonsense. Your postings are far from trivial and the fact that you have lost 68 pounds leaves me weak with envy. I am trying to lose 30 pounds that I put on after an operation three years ago. Also, was very obese as a child, so there is all that stupid 'shame' stuff going on about once again being FAT!

Have recently started an 'activity challenge' with a young guy here - Doctor MO - which we started last Sunday. My idea was to take the focus off of food consumption and instead just become more active. Even if it's only doing one extra active thing a day that one might not normally do. It's going great. Doctor MO actually set up a page for us and now we have about six members. We post our daily active activities and this has proved - at least for me - to be quite good for motivation. AND since last Sunday I've lost two kilos! Tip of the iceberg, I know. But in fact I lost this weight without being concerned at all about the food I was eating. I just started getting more active.

Anyhow, just wanted to say hi. And also, again, think it's great you sent in a complaint about the tv programme that upset you so much. If more people complained perhaps we would see more positive changes happening in our society.

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013

Hi azahar,
Sorry for the delay replying - I am teaching at the moment (must update my space for 'new' job) so I only get the odd 5 minutes here and there to log in.

Firstly, welcome to my space, may I offer you a beverage or ? It is only virtual so don't worry about it hitting your new health drive smiley - winkeye Two kilos sice Sunday? smiley - wow great start!

I saw Dr MO's fitness thing - I did something similar when I started this diet business back in Feb 2002. I joined a gym and changed my name to something like "fat kelli - so horrified by the sight of me in a swimming costume I joined a gym. Number of visits = x" And I found it quite motivating to keep incrementing the number of visits. I kept doing that until I lost my first twenty pounds and started listing pounds lost instead - that has been *really* encouraging because it is kind of public (so I can't weasel out of it) but anonymous enough not to be too scary. Keep posting your exercise progress, if nothing else you'll be able to look back at it and feel smug. That shame thing is a bit of a bugger isn't it? You sound like a balanced, intelligent person so don;t let anyone make you feel guilty or bad about how you look. Some of us are just naturally built for comfort rather than speed so gaining the odd pound (or 100 pounds in my case) doesn't make you a bad person - you just have to work harder than most *if* you chose to be 'thin'.

I read your journal entry about society's take on what sexy should be, and was nodding along to most of what you said. I will never be 'thin' or fashion's idea of the ideal date but, frankly, fashion can f**k off. I want to lose enough weight to feel healthy (feel so much better already) and be able to buy clothes from more than just one or two 'specialist' shops. I'd also like to be able to look down and see my feet smiley - winkeye I think you are right to focus on just helping yourself feel fitter and not worrying about food too much smiley - ok

Don't tell me off about my name, I *was* fat. Huge. Elephantine even. As proof I put a photo of me before my diet (last January in a fairly guessable location) on yahoo, and one of me at the beginning of december (with a lady boy smiley - bigeyes) so you can see the difference 4 stone makes - I'm about another stone lighter than I was in december now, but still a tantalising few pounds away from being officially Not Fat - when my BMI stops being 'obese' and starts being merely 'overweight'. I will be changing my name at that point, although I haven't decided what to yet. Something that shows I haven't quite made it to 'healthy' yet but am on my way...

That first photo is actually pretty flattering too.

The other part of my name is in response to a few rows I've had here lately, I expect it'll change soon enough smiley - biggrin

Anyway, enough gassing - am off to do my yoga video...
smiley - puffk

hi again,

checked out your photos - you are so pretty!

Also, that thing about being 'trivial'. I've had a few run ins with a certain person here - he who shall not be named! - who tried to make me feel stupid. Forget it, man. People who try to do that are only showing how stupid *they* are.

I can't join a gym, unfortunately - no money! But I've been taught well by various fitness instructors in the past, so I really know how to do a proper all-over workout at home. All I need is self-discipline and motivation! Ha! Well, have not been doing too badly with the bike rides and extra walking this past week. Shall try to start the home work outs with small weights this weekend, but in fact, hurt my back a bit yesterday moving some furniture around, so I'll have to be careful.

It's funny how most people's take on that journal entry of mine was that I was talking about body shape. I thought I was mostly talking about comfy clothing and the fact that having to 'dress sexy' was a total snore and also quite uncomfortable. Even thirty pounds ago I was wearing loose comfy stuff - in fact, I'm still wearing a lot of those same clothes! That's how baggy they were.

I'm actually working on two lines of clothing that I would like to produce and they are both kinda 'easy-wear' stuff. One is day-wear and the other is nightwear (night dresses, pj's). All made of natural materials - cotton, linen, silk. Wish me luck.

Because of the sore back I only managed a couple of walks today but hope to be back in the bike saddle tomorrow.

So, keep up the good work and I will too.

besitos,
az
