Hi Honey

I am sorry you found the MacDonald's thread too agressive to follow. I am very shocked by the prejudices I have unleashed there, but it is clear to me that the people expressing them (such as bornonthe20th) are saying far more about themselves than they ever could say about anyone else.

The achievement you proclaim in your user-name is an inspiration to us all.

Truly.

Love

Ben

Hi Ben - don't worry about me! I just get tired of hearing that fat people are lazy and stupid from people that have probably never struggled with their weight.

I'd like to ask them how many times they go to the gym every week (for me currently 7 times, really hoping to knock this down to 4 when I am maintaining rather than losing bt we'll see how it goes), and how many calories they eat every day - do they even know? Try living on 1200/day for a while and see how they feel (hoping can increase this to 1600 when maintaining).

I also like to point out that the people I see in the gym everyday are people with saggy bits like I've got, working hard to make themselves fitter. These aren't lazy people!

I have still got a way to go but I'll get there in the end - but I bet the sizeist elements in that thread have never had to work so hard at anything as I am at this (or Conceited little megapuppy, who has lost 100lbs!)

How are things with you, are you a little more settled these days?

Hi Honey

Just to let you know that the Big Mac thread has got a tad more civilized now, and a couple of people have asked for you go come back. It remains interesting though.

I am well, and getting slowly rested. I must admit that I am not entirely sure I want to continue contracting. The money is good. But the lifestyle is trashing my life. And (whisper who dares) I am getting bored. Again.

Anyway, I am taking all of August off, and probably all of September too.

They need me to move out smiley - sadface so they can refurb the flat smiley - smiley. Mind you there is a lot that I need to organise myself. I need some electrical work and some carpentry done, and the refurb-people seem reluctant to quote. What IS it with builders? Lovely guys. But...

I will go and stay with my best friend, and I may take the time out to do some visiting round friends. But they say they will need the place for about 2-3 weeks. I may see how they feel about me leaving a bed here and a sofa, and the mike, so that I can stay here while they are doing their stuff. It took so long to buy this place, and I have been here so little, that I don't really want to have to move out again.

Anyway, that is me honey. I was working it out. If I lost 51 lbs I would be at my idea Weight Watchers weight. I am going to look up the nearest gym on the map this evening, and go there tomorrow to sign up!

Hi Ben,
Sorry it has taken me so long to reply, work has become extrememly dull but extremely busy all at the same time and things are a little hectic, am also jobhunting so that is filling all the available spare moments!

My contract with worldcon runs out next month. Given the state of the company I doubt they will extend me at all, and with the generally crappy mood here I don't really want to stay! Up until this morning i had several irons in the fire for new contracts but most have fallen through over the weeknd - most irritating! Still, I am sure that something will come up soon. It looks like the boyfriend might be looking too so everything is changing at once smiley - yikes

I would like to land a permanent job because, as you say, contracting trashes your life - it just depends what I is avaliable I suppose. I need to keep working but feel I really ought to stop and look around to see what else there is. I think I was hoping to have landed a permanent job by the time this contract expires but that doesn't seem to have worked!

How are you enjoying your August off? Are you a nomadic wanderer now? Are you housey repairs coming on? We spend most of our time a weekends doing DIY - only one major job left and we can stop, sell up and move on to another wreck. Maybe. smiley - winkeye

Did you keep your resolve to get down the gym?

Yeah. It is at times like that that contracting sucks. I simply ask myself the question 'will I work again?' to which the answer clearly is 'yes'. Then the questions become ones of 'when', 'where', 'who for' and 'how much'. And it is definitely picking up out there. Three guys I know who have not been contracting for a while are all in work again. And if you have got the stability and long-termism for a permanent role go for it. The benefits are better, you get free training, and you don't have the quarterly or bienniel upheavals.

August has been rough in a lot of ways, but that was mainly because a lot of chickens sudently had the time to come home to roost. But lots of closure, and lots of moving on.

Gym? er...... can we change the subject please?

Take care, and good luck

Ben
