You suggested I email you about the Musicians' Guild and Jazz Cellar and so forth and I've been trying to do so, without success

So, here is what I was trying to say...

Taking over the Jazz Cellar would mean... well...
whatever you want it to mean. The least would be to
maintain the pages - lists of members, useful links to
jazz-related pages (a link to the MuG, obviously!).
How much more you wanted to do would be up to you.
With the MuG, I dropped a note to Abi to ask her to
publicise the Guild in her H2G2 Post column, community
pages and elsewhere. I've also put a note in my
nickname so that every time I post a message the Guild
is mentioned.

Running somewhere like the Jazz cellar, you might want
to look for jazz-related news or events in the real
world that you could publicise, start conversations
about different topics, maybe even see if there were
enough Researchers living close enough to each other
to organise a trip to a jazz festival or particular
concert... anything you can think of, really

I suppose enthusiasm and publicity are the most
important things. Firstly, people would need to know
about it and, secondly, when they do join they need to
feel as though someone is listening, even if that
simply means making sure you reply to every
conversation and every thread!

Well, I hope that's given you some ideas... If you
decide that it's not for you, don't worry - H2G2 isn't
meant to be hard work!
