The "Not In My Back Yard" phenomenon is alive and well in Denver.

I just don't understand how building a place for people who are homeless to live will drive down property values more than having them sleeping on the streets.

I have just put on an expo at a place which proclaims itself to be promoting solidarity and bloody world peace and basically aiding those at the bottom of the social heap.

I was invited to put the exhibition on, but then informed less than 24 hrs before that i had to provide the food and drinks for the expo. This means basically that myself and the others i am feeding at this moment will have major probs

I went out and invited genuine homeless people to the expo, they were pretty much unaware the place existed and were not exactly welcomed.

Oh, and my handicapped allowance has just been cut off, completely.IE i have absolutely no income whatsoever. This is fairly bloody terminal, less money i can handle, none at all is just...well,it's laughable really, it's just...dunno, just all over, can't do it, it's almost a relief. Meanwhile someone i know has managed to get them to award her twice as much as i got, plus home help 3X per week by pretending to be schizophrenic, she has no physical probs whatsoever and is about as schizo as the average giraffe, but she is a damn fine actress.

I've *never* heard of an expo where the aretist was expected to provide food and drinks. And I was married to a pro artist for eight years.

Is it a sign that couples counseling did not go well when 1/2 of the couple asks to be admited to a psych hospital at the end of the session?

Enough of that. Your problems are a lot more pressing than mine. I'm not able to offer much help right now, and any help I could offer would be a short-term fix in any case. How'd my shining armor get so rusty, and when did my horse die? I'm keeping my eyes crossed for you Terri.

Do you know much about OCD and how partners can cope with that one?

I think the armour is possibly worn out from over usage, as for the horse, it wouldn't last long in france, they would eat it if it stood still longer than 5 minutes (i am told it is nice with lots of garlic)

Well ... unfortunately I don't have power over everything that happens in my front and back yard ... but if I had the power, yes, I would welcome as many species as possible and try to promote and nourish them and try to keep everything in harmonious chaos!

I'm of the opinion that the entire world *should* be everyone's back yard, front yard, and home. Unhappily, most people don't think that way. Almost any American who is halfway aware of his/her surroundings is familiar with the acronym "NIMBY." Where should we put the drug rehabilitation center? - "Anywhere that isn't near me."
How about the halfway house? - "Not in *my* neighborhood!" The homeless shelter? "NIMBY!" The soup kitchen? "Somewhere else!" All of these things are needed. Elsewhere.

Since I'm here, I don't get to play with the nice . Home fires would probably be a bad idea, though. I think the owners of my apartment complex would get upset.

Divorce ain't gonna happen. That's because marriage never happened. Not getting any $$$ back if it doesn't take, either. Not spending any $$$. It's a matter of whose insurance is used. We'd be spending lots of $$$ if it was mine. The other way around, the gummint picks it up onaccouta the combination of poor and disabled.
