Hello, night and welcome to this The Guide.
You may have wandered here by mistake but trust me when I say there's nowhere better. The Omnipresent, omnipotent, omniverous, low fat, low cholestrol, sugar free and most importantly, unleaded, alternative to the Encyclopaedia Britannica.
I am an ACE (Assistant Community Editor) and in such a capacity, I am charged with the responsibility of meeting, greeting and attempting to confuse newbies such as yourself. If you get lost in your wanderings around, reply to this or leave a message on my homepage (reachable by clicking on my name) and I will see if I can help. If i can't then I'll know someone who can.
The best way to get to know your way around is to go for a wander. Join in conversations, create guide entries or peer-review other peoples guide entries (http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/peerreview). The main thing to remember is enjoy. We're all a friendly bunch and are always here to help.
As I said, if you get stuck, wedged, tangled or ensnared just stick up a hand and one of us will come a-galloping.
See you around night
Ekki
