ARCHERY
I shoot target recurve with the occasional field round thrown in.
Equipment as follows:-
Hoyt gold medallist riser
Border limbs(40lb)
home made long rod and stabiliser

Best score at 20m metric with one arrow = 10
Best score at 20yds imperial with one arrow = 9

Should it be banned?
I see no inherent danger in an organised club or tournament shoot.
We as a club shoot on a football field which, admittedly can be quite busy until half-time.
We have had no serious injuries or deaths in the last fortnight.
Accident rates have also fallen since we started shooting in the same direction.

Regulation by licensing is not an option. For years we have had television licenses and the level of viewing of Australian soaps and fly on the wall documentaries has risen dramatically. Obviously the licensing system does not work for T.V. so why should it for archery.

It is conceivable that a lone archer (or perhaps a gang - what is the collective noun for a group of archers)could burst unnoticed into a building society with a 68" bow complete with full stabilization etc hidden up his/her jumper and demand that customers, staff etc stand exactly 20m away. (No sight marks for Imperial distances) and then make off with enough money to buy a couple of Easton ACE arrows and a pocket of spinwings. Conceivable but very unlikely. So I see no reason at all to have a sport that is no more dangerous or politically incorrect than say golf or tractor wrestling banned.

It is a shame they split up. If they stayed together they could have been as big as Steps or Atomic Kitten.

Jelly

Recent survey asked 14 people for their favourite jelly flavour. The results are as follows:-
-Strawberry 5
-Raspberry 3
-Blackcurrant 2
-Orange 1
-Cola 1
-Lemon 1
-Lime 1

In an experiment conducted under strict kitchen laboratory conditions 3 people were asked to blind taste 3 flavours of jelly. Not one of our highly experienced volunteers managed to correctly identify a single flavour from taste alone. When the volunteers were allowed to see as well as taste the jelly all answers were correct.

I offer this as conclusive proof of something or other.

In my opinion the best jelly flavours are the traditional strawberry/raspberry/orange with strawberry coming out on top.
Recently introduced flavours such as Cheese and Sea Mink,Great Auk and Charcoal and Cauliflower will never find a place in the heart of the British jelly eating public.
My belief is that these jellies wil be found to be the cause for one if not all of the following:-

Global Warming
Continental Drift
The fall of the roman empire
S Club 7.

As to which is "best" then that would depend on the proposed useage.

For releasing small animals from underground pipes Lime is most suitable.

The firmness of a well made strawberry is excellent for gerbil trampolines.

For all round use a good Raspberry is hard to beat.
