Another opera fan!

Hello, Lara!

I see that you are interested in opera. So am I, and I have been writing some guide entries. If you follow the link to my home space, you will see some of my entries, including a history of opera which has been put into the edited guide.

I have started a University Project which is about Great Opera Houses - the link for that is on my space as well. Another researcher who has written about composers is Gnomon, and Ashley on the editorial team is also very interested in opera. You can find either of them by using the search h2g2 function.

I recently saw a performance of Il Tabarro and Gianni Schicchi (for some reason they only did two out of the three 'Trittico' operas). I found Il Tabarro a bit too melodramatic, but Gianni Schicchi was great fun. I love Puccini, but I think Mozart is my favourite operatic composer.

Anyway, if you want to discuss anything operatic, I'm sure to be interested. If you have any comments on my opera entries, I'd be very glad to know what you think. The opera houses ones are not finished yet, but comments are always welcome.

I have just visited your side, realy good work. I have a weak spot for Puccini, and "Gianni Schicchi" is the sweetest thing the 19th century ever came up with. You are right, "Il Tabbaro" is sad, but the custom is that they play it together with Gianni, just like they perform "Cavalleria Rusticana" with "Pagliaggi". The other work that belongs in this trilogy,"Suor Angelica", is rearly performed, due to the fact that is an all femail opera. A bit dull they think!
Talk to you later then.
