Yes, that's right, as per The Guide itself, there is no need to Panic.
I am an ACE (Assistant Community Editor) and it is my and my fellow ACEs (who can be found here http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/aces) job to scoot around welcoming newbies, like yourself, with open arms, a mug of hot , and a slice of
so that you feel instantly at home. Not only that but we also point out emergency exits, how to use the life jackets and how to blow the whistles to attract attention (to what we're not entirely sure. So far a school of Pilot Wales is the only thing that has shown even a glimmer of interest)
So where to start? Well, as with a great many things in life (excluding Captain Correlli's Mandolin), the beginning is always a good point. Obviously starting at the first entry and going all the way through the guide would not only take an incredibly long time but it would never end. It is therefore suggested that you start here http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/welcome at the welcome page.
The best way to find your way around is to go for a wander. Read entries, write entries, peer-review entries (http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/peerreview) or just barge in on conversations and vent your splean or say what you want.
If you do get lost, you can either reply to this message, by clicking "reply" and I'll come running; leave a message on my homepage (http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/u130666) and I'll come hopping; contact another Ace (about whom I've already told you) or press "Help!" at the top of the screen.
The main thing is to enjoy. We're all a friendly bunch; none of us bite unless either hungry or provoked (except the s) and we're all here for the same reasons.
As I said, enjoy and let me know if you want rescuing ...
