Hi, I've just come to visit your page, now you've visited mine. I like your poems especially the Tolkien one. I'm a philosopher too. I like the Pre-socratic Greek philosophers and Pan-en-theism.
I see you went on the George Harrison messages. I was very sad when he passed on.
I'm also a vegetarian - I didn't know there was an h2g2 vegsoc - I will have to visit it.
See you

Hi!
Glad you liked the quotes! I think Tolkien was quite a philosopher. Have you ever read Sophie's World? I found it gave a nice over view of all philosophers and schools of thought. I have to say my all time favorite philosopher is Socrates. Though there are some close ones.
The veg society isn't much, but I find it fun to join things! And I am difentally a vegetarian, and I have been all my life.
Cheers!

I tried to read Sophie's world to my daughter (named Sophia) but didn't get very far, she found it boring. I have read lots of other philosophy though. I like Socrates too, I even learned classical Greek for a couple of years so I could read some philosophy in the original.
I've been a veggie all my life too, and so have my children - 3rd generation veggies.

Hellloooo! Sorry about that prolonged absence. Are you still about? Hello? Can you hear meeeeeeeeee?
I can understand how that book would be boring to some. I suggest you finish it though, it is quite fun. Another person I like for philosophical reasons is Joseph Campbell, ever run across any of his Power of Myth stuff? Fascinating. See you later!

Hello, sorry I've been off so long - busy, busy, busy etc .
Yes, I've heard of Joseph Campbell, but haven't read him yet. I know George Lucas has, but he has stretched what he read very thin and the last Star Wars "Prequel" was a bit of a mess (I thought).
Philosophy, mythology and good ideas crop up in all sorts of places, not just in 'serious' books. I like the Dune novels of Frank Herbert - they are full of profound ideas about the human condition.
Now I must rush off again!
See you
