I quite like the Nutcracker. Rachmaninov's great. I played his second piano concerto with our school orchestra (I wasn't playing the piano, just the viola!)

I played Greig's Piano Concerto under similar circumstances. 2nd Violin. smiley - smiley

Actually, I prefer the Viola but could never get my head around the clef. If you'll pardon the expression.

Most violin music is just Flute stuff. At least you get material written specifically for the Viola. Do you still play ?

yes. I'm gonna do grade 8 in the autumn I hope. Don't play the violin any more - gave that up about 5 years ago.

I was 17 before I got grade 8.

Have you tried any Wieniawski?
I think he was polish but he has written some really great stuff.

I like Bach alot. You should try Wieniawsky,if you like Tchaikovsky. He's pretty much a contempory smiley - smiley

I like Bach too, but some of his organ music's a bit hard

Alot of his keyboard stuff is best played on the Harpsichord.
Which is, I believe, where he wrote it.
