la vita e bella indeed

A frustrating and as yet unconcluded day, brightened by several small bright joys. My writing, in all its incarnations, vexes me but continues to bring me joy. I have a critical eye for it, and when I see a fault it glares like a stoplight...it seems Drab recently, like I am narrating to an audience that doesn't care and my mind reacts unknowingly? Even That sounded drab. It really disturbs me to think that I'm getting rusty, not to mention sounding like a real prude whenever I open my mouth! Yargh, blech and gyick, it grates my mind.

But I cannot, despite any hitches, stop the urge in my fingers to let the ink flow onto the paper and create more worlds. That twitch. So it goes on and the thoughts purged from my mind into the jottings pile up, from the silly to the intensely serious and beyond in all directions. More and more often my mind turns anxiously towards the gleaming unwrapped package of writing some fiction, only to be strapped on the wrist by whatever 'Importance' that needs to be attended upon; but my opportunities are opening. Less 'importances', more freedom. Will I seize the day, or react like a monkey with a football? God help me.

And then there is my photography...and my sketching...and my martial arts...and my web design...so many neglected arts that dance around my mind like naughty squirrels that have stolen my car keys. (what an interesting analogy!)

I have a scheme...I came upon it through 'Plumage' by Nancy Springer. The main character has this hobby/routine of reading all the books in the library subject by subject. It's just the sort of interesting, fun, and insane thing that I would do! I've harped to different people of how I enjoy discovering new frontiers and interests, subjects and fields... it would be the perfect compliment to that. Yet another thing to do!

But right now, I'm beat, and someone is nagging me to relenquish the computer. 'What are we going to do tommarow night, Brain?'

'The same thing we do every night, Daven. Try to take over the World.'

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
