One point - do you have anything lined up on the sleeping front yet? I ask cos apparently Munchkin's flatmate should be away that weekend, and so he can probably accomodate a few people. So far I am intending to stay at his, and apparently he also offered space to Jools and Dr. Gonzo, although whether these two are going to make it... anyway, I was thinking it would be convenient if those of us driving down were all going to the same place.

BTW, do you have Tracy's email address - I'm not sure she is on here much at the moment. My address is on my page.

Sus and Tracey said something about checking availability at some Travel Inn nearby Munchkin's place, but I'm not sure. NOthing's been decided irrevokably yet as far as I know.
If Brian's flatmate is away and that frees up some more spaces on the floor, that would be even better. smiley - smiley
Tracey's mail is to be found in the SMEG aftermath thread, post 37: [email protected]
I'll drop her a text, though, telling her about Brian's place.

Err, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I'm sure I should know, but... I'm asking because a lot of the rental firms have surcharges for under 25s. Like I said in the other thread, Avis was looking pretty good till I found out that they had a £20 charge per additional driver. I dunno about you, but my feeling is that it would be better to have both of us down as drivers. Makes coming back up on the Sunday a little more tolerable if we can take turns smiley - winkeye

Might be worth checking if that company in Leith does extra drivers free (or cheap). Not so handy, being in Edinburgh, but they sound fairly cheap.

Hmmm, been looking around a bit more. It's amazing the little gotchas that lurk in the Terms and Conditions of these companies... I'm beginning to think Avis has (marginally) the best deal. A 3 day hire (Fri 9 am to Mon 9 am) for £62, going up to £82 with additional driver. That's for a 1.4 Astra or similar (A Corsa-class is about £10 cheaper, but as it looks like we will have 4 people we could do with something slightly bigger).

Anyway, that's what I've come up with. Talk to you latersmiley - smiley

I just turned 26 a couple of weeks ago, and if they're just going by the year of birth, I'd count as 27.smiley - smiley
True, the Leith thing does seem a bit out of the way, however, I could probably get there on friday and pick the car up, as I've got the entire day off from work. We'll see what they say about the extra driver thing. It would, as you said, probably be better if we could share the driving, as it gets a bit tiring after a while. And on the Sunday, we might not be in too good shape to drive very long...smiley - winkeye
I posted the number for the Leith place in the travel arrangement thread.
And I think you're right about us being better off in a bit of a bigger car. Gets a bit more comfortable if we're to drive such a long way.
