Hi Fenny
I just called in to thank you for supporting my posting, and for having the kindness to write to me when you did. You're the finest example of Universal Tolerance, Fen - If you're still looking for it, I think the answer lies within!
Chris

Thanks for that Chris!
It's always strengthening to hear that others respect you for your ethics! I appreciate your compliment, and I recognise in your posting the strength you needed to complete it. I had my own experience of uncomfortable childhoods when I was growing up - although not at first hand, since my family provided a fostering service for one of London's City Councils - and I understand how difficult it is, and how necessary it is, to share the experiences you've been through.
Kudos to you for completing the posting, and support for the future.
BTW - why did you change your handle from Kid Kitsch? Sorry, just an example of my irritating curiosity!

Hi Fen
Changing my handle is an example of my irritating insecurity, I'm afraid. In an environment where people are using all sorts of names in all sorts of ways to describe how they're doing, I took "kid kitsch" (no caps) when I first joined, as it was what I was going to use as a music monicker, if I ever got around to releasing anything, in the style of a few of my faves; Kid Loco, Kid Koala (check him out! he's ) et al - I used a lot of samples from old charity-shop vinyl tack, you see.
Well after my dad died, I was suddenly thrown onto this emotional rollercoaster I couldn't get off, and started changing my name every five minutes - everything from Kid Vague to Kid Miserable to Kid @*?&%£! until I finally decided I was never going to be comfortable with this stuff and be open about it, without being anyone other than myself.
It seems like if you call yourself a kid you're going to get treated like one, and I'm far too long in the tooth (physically and emotionally, if not mentally) to stand for that .
Peace
Chris M

Wow - in-depth explanation! Thanks Chris. Just btw, my real name's not Fenny, nor Fenchurch - that handle started in May, as a tribute to DNA and at my discovery of this site. I'm not keen on posting my details on this site, but I'll email you to say hi!
I just started ploughing my way through the Kid Koala website - did you catch him while he was in the UK? I love the website - brilliant idea: a scanned in image makes light work of coding!
I've bought the charity shop vinyl, but they normally sell so expensively, if the record's undamaged, that my student budget wouldn't reach... Besides, I'm normally a jazz or classical record customer. Then I like rock or soft-rock on CD. Go Figure!
I sympathise about your bereavement. I already said that, I think, but repetition doesn't make it less true. It's a very hard emotion for anyone to overcome; everyone here is happy to support you. And I won't *ever* treat you as a kid!
