You want a band AND a punk rock girlfriend....tall order

Researcher 177704 Posted Oct 30, 2002
The annoying this is that I almost have a band and there are plenty of punk rock girls who are almost suitable girlfriend material
Anyway, what brings you to these parts?

whirlwind, heat, and flash Posted Oct 30, 2002
why, the specials, of course. Everyone I know *almost* has a band.... and a punk rock girlfriend, too. They're harder to come by though, so I'm told.

Perhaps if I got a band then the punk rock girlfriend would follow, or vice versa.
I was most impressed with your knowledge of Clash lyrics in the 'what music are you listening to at this precise moment' thread, by the way

oh thank you. the Clash runs my life, so any reference makes me happy

I do think, though, that the punk rock girlfriends would flock after the band... even a theoretical, no-gigs-we-just-practice kind of band.

Yeah, the Clash rule. I was in London yesterday and saw a sign showing the way to Brixton - I couldn't get 'the guns of brixton' out of my head all day
Do you like the Ramones, by any chance?

The new issues with free bonus tracks are great
Rocket to Russia's been in my cd player all day
Would it be morally right to use my status as a band-member to attract girls, do you think?

whirlwind, heat, and flash Posted Oct 30, 2002
oh certainly. i thought that was the main reason most bands were started.

Glad we've got that sorted then
Perhaps I'll try to write some songs tomorrow...
It's almost midnight here so I should probably go to bed now, as I'm really tired. Talk to you tomorrow

Ah, another day completely wasted away on sitting around listening music
What do you think of h2g2, by the way?

whirlwind, heat, and flash Posted Oct 31, 2002
well, I've just returned from a long h2g2 hiatus, when i forgot my password so had to get a new id completely.... but it's really quite wonderful.... also, just knowing that almost everyone you talk to will be a DNA fan gives me warm fuzzy feelings inside.
now i have to go listen to london calling, cause it's in my head

Oh, that's very very hard to say. I can't just choose one over the other..... I did just finish salmon of doubt, though.... what an infuriating book.

although not technically a dna book, i suppose....

My favourite is probably 'The Restaurant at the End of the Universe'.
Is the Salmon of Doubt good? I haven't read it yet.

oh, it's great, but horribly unsatisfying. It's a Dirk Gently, so a very confusing mystery, but it stops after about 11 chapters.... I'll never feel whole until I read the end.....

time difference is quite a problem for workable conversation
